Wing Tips & Landing Light Covers

Landing light covers and wing tips are highly stressed during flights. Robust material is required to achieve a reasonable lifetime. In cooperation with Goodrich Lighting Systems, a concept was developed that is more resistant than the polycarbonate that was used so far. Acrylic glass shows its superiority. For a flight test one wing was equipped with a wing tip from polycarbonate and the other side from acrylic. After a period of 100 flight hours the Plexiglas® had hardly any micro crazing and the covers were almost as clear and transparent as new.

Weathering Resistant

Evonik Röhm, the manufacturer of Plexiglas®, grants a non-yellowing warranty for a period of 30 years. Moreover acrylic glass is maintenance friendly, because marks of everyday use can mostly be removed by polishing.

Series und Protoype

The wing tips and landing light cover series are manufactured on our deep-drawing machines to achieve a precise fitting. The finishing takes place on NC controlled milling robots. The repeatability is about 100%. Best conditions for a seamless incorporation in the production of our customers.
