Transparent Plastics

Race car windows should be light and break-resistant. These are the properties, which made polycarbonate successful in this field. Compared to glass, plastic materials are much lighter.

Polycarbonate types such as Lexan® and Makrolon® are additionally break-resistant and impact-proof. Therefore polycarbonate is suitable to protect front and rear lights from stone impacts. Likewise many parts are required to be protected from scratches. For this purpose polycarbonate transparencies can be coated.

Forming

We manufacture motor sport glazing in a thermoforming process. The result is a reliable shape that can easily be included in a serial production. This process is also suitable for first models and prototypes. Lamp and light covers are often made using a deep-drawing process.

Milling

The next production step is the milling of the contours by milling robots. Several computer controlled multi-axis robots are available in this division. The repeatability of milled parts is about 98% and makes these parts a great partner in the serial assembly.
Further information on processing methods is available here: Processing Methods

Options

Many possibilities allow for very individual designs of the transparencies. For example black frames can be added in a silk-printing process.
