Materials: Plexiglas® for Automotive Purposes
Basic PLEXIGLAS® XT
Plexiglas® XT 20070 (basic grade) is an extruded acrylic glass with the chemical denomination polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The types Plexiglas® XT 20070 and 29070 are the colourless, clear basic grades that differ only in the grade of UV transmittance. This material is produced in form of 1.5 to 25 mm thick sheets, tubes, round rods, corrugate and multi-skin sheets.
Applications
The fields of application for Plexiglas® XT have been expanding constantly. It is mainly used for glazing in construction (e.g. saucer domes, rows of windows, borrowed lights, sheds etc.) greenhouses, private construction projects (such as canopy or terrace roofs and conservatories), milk pipelines, displays, shop and exhibition fittings etc. Its main characteristics are great light transmittance, excellent weather resistance and easy processing inspite of a high solidity.
PLEXIGLAS® Resist® XT 75
Plexiglas Resist® XT 75 is an extruded sheet material from impact-modified acrylic glass (polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA). It offers greater break resistance than standard acrylic glass. Both surfaces are smoothed and highly glossy. The material is highly transparent and offers great UV transmittance (little thickness offers proportional UV transmittance).
This material is approved to DOT-112-AS-6 (M-34 - 3 mm to M-84 – 8 mm) which allows the application for motorbike windshields.
Plexiglas Resist® XT 75 is available in the form of sheets of 2,3,4,5,6 and 8 mm.
