Plexiglas® - It's Magic! Plexiglas Gallery®

Plexiglas Gallery®

The New Benchmark for Artwork Protection

PLEXIGLAS Gallery® stands for protect on combined with lightweight presentations. PLEXIGLAS Gallery® offers excellent performance when it comes to preserving unique, valuable works of art. Protective glazing for pictures, paintings, prints, photos, documents, statues, exhibits, and so on – that means use for a wide variety of applications.
The outstanding advantages of PLEXIGLAS Gallery® against conventional float glass are:

  • high UV protection
  • greater break resistance
  • less weight
UV blocker for best color protection

Pictures of high personal or material value are presented in particularly exposed places. Photos, paintings, pictures or certificates are well lit to show off their brilliant natural colors. The required protective glazing affords a clear view while preventing access. But added to the risk of mechanical damage is the far greater hazard posed by aggressive UV rays from sunlight or halogen light.

PLEXIGLAS Gallery® is the best UV blocker among glazing materials. Unlike conventional float glass, PLEXIGLAS Gallery® filters out destructive UV rays; PLEXIGLAS Gallery® UV 100 (PLEXIGLAS® XT Clear 21570) provides 99.7 % UV protection (at 3 mm material thickness). The colors, canvas and paper of the artwork are durably protected. PLEXIGLAS Gallery® therefore complies with the highest conservation requirements.

High break-resistance

When a picture with conventional glazing falls or is dropped, the floor is covered with a myriad large and small slivers with sharp and jagged edges. Injuries are almost inevitable. But they don't need to be. PLEXIGLAS Gallery® is 11 times more break-resistant than float glass. It withstands many a blow that would certainly shatter float glass. This is an inestimable advantage for picture glazing in public buildings like kindergartens and schools. The special break resistance of PLEXIGLAS Gallery® also comes to the fore during shipment. There is nothing more annoying when opening a shipped carton than to find broken glass spilling out - not to mention the damage to the picture and the frame.

As Light as a Feather

Glazing, shipment and hanging up pictures with PLEXIGLAS Gallery® is child's play. Since it is less than half as heavy as float glass, PLEXIGLAS Gallery® is very easy to handle. The selected picture hangers can also be very slim and elegant, owing to the substantial weight savings.

Simple and Save to Fabricate

Fabricating PLEXIGLAS Gallery® is a piece of cake. Both surfaces are protected by a masking film. This remains on the sheet during cutting to size and is removed just before the glazing is hung up. Sheets can be cut to size with a circular saw or jigsaw, or using a scoring knife for acrylics.
